Hydro turbines

The WKV Pelton Turbine

Characteristics :

  • Head range from 30 m up to 1000 mclick to enlarge
  • Capacity up to 15 000 kW
  • 1 to 6 jet designs
  • Horizontal or vertical shaft arrangements
  • Jet deflectors for outstanding dynamic performance
  • 2 or 4 bearing turbine – generator arrangements
  • Well suited to sites with significant fluctuations in discharge
  • Developed for use in demanding application with silt laden water
  • Optimized jet geometry to achieve outstanding peak efficiencies
  • Spearvalve actuated by either electric or hydraulic means
  • Runner cast from high grade, extremely wear resistant, stainless steel
  • Maintenance free shaft seal design

The WKV Turgo Impulse Turbine

Characteristics :

  • click to enlarge Head range from 30 m up to approx. 300 m
  • Capacity up to 5 000 kW
  • 1 and 2 nozzle designs, horizontal shaft arrangement
  • Jet deflectors for outstanding dynamic performance – important in case of long penstocks
  • Less sensitive than Francis turbines for applications with silt laden water
  • Excellent part load efficiencies
  • Jet and runner geometry optimized in WKV’s test facility to achieve excellent efficiencies
  • Spearvalve actuated by either electric or hydraulic means
  • Optimized jet geometry to achieve outstanding peak efficiencies
  • Spearvalve actuated by either electric or hydraulic means
  • Well suited to replacing low head multi jet Pelton or high head Francis turbines with poor part load efficiencies
  • Maintenance free shaft seal design
  • Runner cast from high grade, extremely wear resistant, stainless steel

The WKV Francis Turbine

Characteristics :

  • click to enlargeHead range:open flume from 1.5 m up to 10 mspiral casing up to approx. 300 m
  • Capacity up to 15 000 kW
  • High peak efficiency
  • Used where flow fluctuation is less than 50% of the design flow
  • Complete range of specific speedrunner designs for optimum selection versus synchronous speed
  • Compact design and low maintenance requirements through rigorous selection of the best suited materials
  • 2 or 4 bearing turbine – generator arrangements
  • Bearings rated for at least 100 000 hours of operation
  • Wicket gates actuated by electric or hydraulic means

The WKV Crossflow Turbine

Characteristics :

  • click to enlargeHead range 3m up to approx. 150m
  • Capacity up to 2 000 kW
  • A split vane construction allows an almost constant efficiency between 100% – 17% of full discharge
  • Significant improvements achieved through targeted research and development in WKV’s own test facility
  • Economic solution where other turbines prove to be too expensive
  • Maximum efficiency achieved by using a hydraulically optimized blade design
  • Highly sturdy runners cast or welded guide vanes with stainless steel shafts
  • Guide vanes actuated by electric or hydraulic means
  • Robust and stiff housing with inspection hole and aeration valve
  • Proven bearing arrangement, designed by WKV, rated for at least100 000 hours of operation
